My Favorite Shop

Although there are so many great places online and in-store to find fabulous things, my absolute favorite is The Cross Design in downtown Vancouver. The Cross is the home decor, jewelry, and accessories shop that dreams are made of. Absolutely everything they sell just screams ‘lovely’, from the gorgeous furniture, to the dainty fine jewelry and adorable baby accessories. You will no doubt see tons of their products coming up in my favorite things page, as everything I have purchased from them so far has been a huge hit in my home. Although their stuff is a bit on the pricier side, everything is carefully curated for high quality and maximum cuteness.

The store itself is so fun to walk through, but they also have a very easy to use website (linked here), and an Instagram account that is well worth a follow. Every day they post their favorite in-store products and decorating tips, and provide great decor ideas. Whether in-store or online The Cross is well worth checking out – it will give you massive #dreamhome inspo!

What the Heck is Adulting?

26 is a difficult age. Half of my friends are getting married and putting down payments on houses, some are just starting masters degrees while others are finishing, and some can barely find their phones. We are all at such different stages of life, and it can be so hard not to feel “behind” or “inadequate” in some way, especially when you’re sitting at home and it feels like everyone and their cat is out exploring the world. That, in large part, is why I started this blog: it is nice to feel in control of something – to have a means of collecting your thoughts and focussing on all the wonderful things you do have in your life, instead of focussing on what appears to be lacking.

Whenever I feel frustrated with where I’m at, or caught up in comparisons, I like to do an “adult” thing – write a to-do list, scrub the bathtub, or even just make a cup of tea and read a book. Doing something that feels intentional and productive takes away from the chaos of life, and helps me regain that feeling of calm and control. I think it is so important to have these little tools and tricks to help take yourself out of a funk – we all get them, and they are just a part of life – but knowing yourself and how best to get back into the light is an invaluable life skill. Next time you find yourself feeling blue, comparing yourself to the girl on Instagram sipping Aperol in a white dress while honeymooning in Greece, I implore you to put down the phone and focus on a task. Pick any task you want but pick something concrete, and throw yourself into it fully. Checking off little tasks in moments of sadness might not be a magical solution to achieving all of your goals, but it might make the big tasks or choices you’re facing seem a little less daunting. Life is not a race, and if you treat it as one you are going to miss out on so much of life’s little joys – best to take it one step at a time.

2.5 Weeks in Colombia and Ecuador

Although I personally have not done this one yet, this is an itinerary I suggested for our upcoming South America trip. I have always wanted to visit Colombia and Ecuador for their great outdoor activities, incredible coffee, and lively atmosphere, so I am still hoping to put this itinerary to use soon! Please let me know if you have any added suggestions; we love to hear from you!

The Daily Edited Monogrammed Cardholder and Phone Case

I LOVE anything monogrammed. Phone cases, PJs, stationary – I love it all, and no one does it better than The Daily Edited! I fell in love with this company when I was living in Australia, where they are a household name. Although they are a bit on the pricier side, TDE products are durable, elegant and oh-so-adorable. My personal favorite products are their monogrammed leather phone cases, and the four card holder. I have used mine every single day for two years now, and they still look brand new. What’s more, their products make perfect gifts! They have all sorts of accessories available – purses, stationary, travel tags – all in a wide assortment of colors and materials. Everything about these beauties is customizable from the font size, style, color and added extra designs. TDE products are available at various pop-up locations around the US, but unfortunately are only available online for Canadians at the moment (through a US site). Still, they are SO worth it!

Two Weeks in Sri Lanka

Last December, my partner and I spent just over two weeks travelling around Sri Lanka. Needless to say, the trip was INCREDIBLE. The itinerary we followed gave us a great overall sense of the country, and we had so many amazing experiences! From beaches, to safaris, to unforgettable cultural experiences, Sri Lanka has it all. I would highly recommend checking it out for your next vacation, before the tourists invade! Please feel free to ask any questions regarding hotels/activities/restaurants that you may have, as there are just too many great spots to list.

Mepal Storage

Is there anything better than cute Tupperware? If you’re anything like me, the odds of packing your own lunch go up 100% if you have adorable storage. These guys are made in Holland and come in a ton of gorgeous colors, are BPA free, leak-proof, dishwasher approved, freezer-friendly AND microwave-safe! I use mine every single day, and colleagues always as where I got them. I personally bought mine from Welk’s in Vancouver, but they are available in homeware stores all over Canada, or online here.
