Quarantine Has You Questioning Everything

Everyone has too much time on their hands right now. As the saying goes “idle hands are the devil’s playthings” – having so much free time often means that your mind is left to run in circles, and often in places that aren’t useful. So here’s a way to dial it back, when everything gets to be a bit too much.

The first thing to do is to take a deep breathe, and remind yourself that this is a stressful time, but it WILL pass. Next, acknowledge that you are in a “heavy thought” cycle – these can be tough to break, but not impossible, and just the acknowledgement alone can make a huge difference. I know its easier said than done, but the next step is to really try your best to laser focus on the positive. For example, if something that your partner is doing is driving you crazy, try to remember that you love each other. There is SO much joy in that fact alone! If you are stressed about your career, instead take a moment to remember all you have accomplished along the way that has allowed you to get where you are now. You will continue to achieve, and you will continue to move forward. Try and think of three positive things surrounding whatever stress you may be feeling and let them resonate through you; that alone can make a big difference in changing your mood.

This is a hard time for everyone, but remember that we are all in this together. Try not to get bogged down in negative thought patterns; every day is a new start, and a new beginning! We’re all just doing our best, so be gentle and kind to yourself, always.
